Position Summary:
Job Summary
The Assistant Women's Volleyball Coach reports to the Head Coach of the respective sport. The primary tasks are to assist the Head Coach in all aspects of the program including plan practices and game strategies; game day responsibilities, scorekeeping training and other duties as assigned.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Coach in developing and conducting organized practices.
  • Assist the Head Coach with Game day responsibilities.
  • Assist the Head Coach in counseling student-athletes in a positive manner and serving as a positive role model to all SU students on a daily basis.
  • Adhere to all NCAA, conference and University rules and regulations.
  • Develop positive rapport with athletics staff, as well as the entire SU community.
  • Represent the University to various constituents in a professional manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach.


    Required Qualifications:
    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
    Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to build strong collaborative relationships. Requires ability to multi-task and attend to detail. Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work with current students and parents, prospective students and parents, and staff and faculty in a professional manner. Ability to demonstrate skills and teach game concepts.

    Education and Experience
    Bachelor’s Degree with no experience OR three years of coaching/playing experience required.

    Additional Requirements
    This position requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and qualify under the university’s insurance carrier when driving a university and/or leased vehicle. CPR, AED and First Aid certification is preferred.

    Physical Demand
    Position requires the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time. Position requires the ability to move about the campus. Position requires the ability to talk and to hear instruction ability to frequently convey detailed or important instructions and ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly. Position requires lifting, pulling, pushing: Exert up to 50 pounds for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires travel. Work is indoors and outdoors.
