Southern Arkansas University (SAU) is seeking applicants for a non-tenure track Instructor of Design/Tech/Management position. The department offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Performing Arts degree with concentrations in Theatre, Musical Theatre, Music Performance, Music Education, and Music with Studies in Business; a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication with a concentration in Mass Media; and houses various vocal and instrumental ensembles.

Duties: Teach 12 credit hours a semester in technical theatre and design to include: Lighting, Scenic and other areas of applicant’s expertise: such as costume, sound, make-up, stage management, stagecraft; Technical Direction and Design for all productions (four per academic year); management of the scenic and costume shops and Harton Theatre; design (scenic, lighting, etc.) and construction for all productions; and/or oversee student designers in all positions and other duties as assigned.                                                                                                           

Qualifications: MFA or equivalent terminal degree in Theatre Design and/or Theatre Production is required; professional experience may also be considered; previous university experience preferred; must possess the interpersonal and organizational skills to coordinate with colleagues and students to accomplish production design and construction within designated production schedules and budgets; must interact with students to mentor their development in technical theatre in and outside the classroom; possess expertise in all aspects of stagecraft and theatrical design including: lighting, theatrical fly systems (weighted and electrical), set design and construction, costuming, and sound.
