About the Opportunity:
The CILS Institute is seeking a grant writer capable of assisting CILS investigators with conceptualizing, writing, and coordinating funding opportunities. They will also assist in development of other scientific communication materials as well as grant progress reports. Funding will be targeted to federal agency grant opportunities, corporations, and foundations. CILS-related opportunities will arise from individual principal investigators as well as multi-investigator and center grants. The candidate must be highly organized and deadline-driven with excellent writing, editing, and proofreading abilities.

Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
-Provides editing and writing support for funding opportunity proposals, CILS-related scientific materials, and progress reports
-Will be an organizer and developer of funding proposals including writing, budgeting, and proposal submission
-Shares grant opportunities related to the CILS expertise and goals and proposes grant opportunities
-Develops a yearly calendar of applications for CILS-related proposals
-Helps identify funding opportunities paired with expertise within the CILS Institute
-Coaches CILS investigators in grantsmanship

Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree is required with a preference for a major in Biology, Engineering, or Chemistry. Some knowledge on biological/medical subjects is necessary. A minimum of 1-year grant-writing experience or related field in an academic setting with knowledge in federal grant guidelines and federal grant budgets is preferred. The grant writer will need to effectively communicate clearly and concisely in written and oral form about multiple ongoing projects.
