The Accounting and Finance Department at Carthage College is seeking qualified candidates for an Assistant Professor in Finance starting Fall 2021. The position will be a multi-year renewable contract. The individual will be expected to teach undergraduate Finance courses, both required and elective, and should have significant investment banking or other work experience in financial services with Wall Street firms and/or similar financial institutions. Courses will include but not be limited to, Corporate Finance, Security Analysis and Portfolio Management, Trading in the Financial Markets, Derivatives, and Fixed Income Analysis. Ability to teach Financial Accounting is not required but is a plus. This person will play a pivotal role in the design and delivery of best-in-class career preparation courses in investment banking and other financial services-related career paths for students. He/she will establish close collaborations with employers, alumni, faculty colleagues, and career readiness staff members to ensure that our curriculum and other student preparation activities remain industry-relevant and leads to student hiring opportunities with top tier firms. He/she will serve as the faculty advisor to our Finance and Investment Club. Candidates should have a master's degree (or higher) from an AACSB accredited institution in Finance or a related field, plus a minimum of ten or more years' relevant work experience. Evidence of prior teaching effectiveness in a liberal arts setting is desired.

Job Description Carthage College's Finance major focuses on market-relevant teaching, and the ideal candidate should demonstrate an ability to contribute to the teaching quality of the Department. The Department focuses on educating the whole person, with our faculty members facilitating student acquisition of deep conceptual knowledge, their attainment of a broad set of professional competencies, and their development of a clear sense of professional ethics. Therefore, we seek a student-centric colleague who subscribes to this holistic educational philosophy, serves as an exemplary role model, and can demonstrate a commitment to teaching courses that develop students in all aspects. The candidate will also provide service to the college and department through advising students, helping with various committees, and participating in various events.
