The Department of Music at Columbia University invites applications for a full-time, three-year (limited-term) appointment for the Director of the Louis Armstrong Jazz Performance Program at the rank of Associate in Discipline or Lecturer in Discipline beginning July 1, 2021. The successful candidate must have a completed PhD (for position at the rank of Lecturer in Discipline) or Masters (for position at the rank the Associate in Discipline) by June 30, 2021. The primary duties will be to teach two jazz related courses per academic year, in addition to ensemble coaching, coordinating undergraduate admissions, and coordinating all program activities and Music Associates. Applicants must have extensive performing experience. Previous experience teaching Jazz at the college level is also required.
