Job Description:

The Welding Instructor position is a 9-month, tenure-track faculty position with an anticipated start date of August 2021. This position requires effective teaching and advising of diverse students, excellent oral and written communication skills, and a commitment to the comprehensive state college mission. The successful candidate will be responsible for instruction in an innovative post-secondary adult vocational program to prepare students for the American Welding Society (AWS) or National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) certification exams. The instructor will prepare course plans and materials, effectively deliver subject matter content, monitor student attendance and progress, participate on departmental and College committees, participate in curriculum development, support activities that foster retention, participate in the selection of textbooks, perform the assessment of student learning outcomes, and take part in other service and professional development activities. Multiple campus, day, and evening teaching assignments are possible. This position reports to the Director, Workforce Education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate degree in welding and knowledge of and experience in, various types of welding and cutting processes, welding theory, metallurgy, welding related mathematics, and blueprint reading OR graduation from high school or GED equivalency and six years of verifiable welding experience using various welding processes and materials. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Prefer instructional experience, experience working with adult students, NCCER or AWS certification, and pipe fitting and/or ship fitting strongly desired. (NCCER – National Center for Construction Education and Research; AWS – American Welding Society).

SALARY RANGE: $39,730.00 - $50,290.00 (Entry level salary is based on the Collective Bargaining Agreement.)

Pay Details:

Faculty members hired with less than three years of related experience shall be placed on the salary schedule as follows:

164 Day Base (2020 - 2021)

  • Bachelor's or Less - $33,730
  • Master's - $36,420
  • Master's Plus - $38,150
  • Doctorate - $41,185

All degree classification levels add the appropriate dollars (up to $6,000) for years of credited experience to the annual salary figures above to determine entry salary.
