Summary of Position

 

The Salesforce Database Administrator (SDA) is responsible for the cloud based database application (Salesforce) that ensures maximized efficiency capitalizing on the full features and benefits of the database system. The SDA must interpret and understand end user needs in order to configure, maintain and enhance the database system. The SDA must maintain appropriate post degree certifications in order to competently administer the Salesforce Database system as well as maintaining compatibility with auxiliary applications available from AppExchange. The SDA is also responsible for maintaining security on the database by ensuring critical updates are monitored and implemented, authorizing database access to users, and customizing data structure. The SDA is also responsible for developing and architecting custom database objects that meet the unique needs of the organization. SDA also provides technical support to other third party application support specialists and database administrators in a highly integrated environment.

 

Duties/Responsibilities

 

  • Grant/remove and maintain user licenses on Salesforce to access the database.
  • Maintain security including sharing rules and security levels to provide proper access to authorized users.
  • Design, Create and maintain user roles, profiles and hierarchies to right size the access of each user on database and securing the data from unauthorized access.
  • Create and administer training on application to existing or new users/groups.
  • Provide one-to-one and group training to end users on an on-going basis.
  • Manage all processes that impact / relate to cloud based database application Salesforce.com.
  • Manage new releases of Salesforce application and efficiently roll out new features.
  • Document processes and workflows on database.
  • Development experience in using Visualforce pages, Lightning components, Apex classes, and Apex Triggers, Process and Flow Builder, SOQL, SOSL.
  • Maintenance of code including CSS, HTML and Javascript.
  • Assist with migration from older systems/processes into our new cloud based database application – Salesforce.com.
  • Develop complex, macro driven reports to summarize system information for Senior Management.
  • Teach occasional courses in Business computer applications.

Other Minimum Qualifications

 

  • The minimum educational requirements for this position are a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering Management, or a related field plus three years of experience. Experience in any suitable occupation related to SalesForce Administration will be accepted. Experience must include hands on Salesforce database administration experience in the higher education industry, including experience with AppExchange and Integrations with third party solutions. Work with Sales Force.com expanded use of custom code (Apex, S-control and/or integration with external systems is required. Experience with VisualForce, Apex, and HTML is also required. Sales Force Certification is required.
