Executive Director, Pitt-Titusville Education and Training Hub
The University of Pittsburgh at Titusville (Pitt-Titusville) invites applications, nominations, and expressions of interest for the position of executive director of the Pitt-Titusville Education and Training Hub.
Founded in 1963 as a regional campus of the University of Pittsburgh and set in the heart of the Oil Valley Region and the birthplace of the modern oil industry, the University of Pittsburgh at Titusville has transformed into an education and training hub. Led by the president of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford and Titusville, the hub provides a seamless educational experience from the certificate to the associate degree level for students through partner institutions. The hub is an innovative partnership of education and workforce institutions that provides affordable and accessible education and training for occupations required in the regional economy and to help students attain meaningful work and engage in civic life. The founding partners of the hub are the University of Pittsburgh, the Manchester Bidwell Corporation, the Northern Pennsylvania Regional College, and the Swanson School of Engineering Manufacturing Assistance Center.
The University of Pittsburgh at Titusville seeks an energetic and forward-looking executive director to play a pivotal role in leading the Pitt-Titusville Education and Training Hub, and its many stakeholders, in implementing the strategic vision for its future and extending and deepening its regional impact through higher education and workforce development. The executive director will provide overall oversight and management the hub. This includes, but is not limited to, coordinating the activities and programs of the hub partner organizations, representing the hub to the greater community, and garnering community support for the hub; developing new opportunities for additional partners and additional programs to meet local and regional needs; advocating to elected and nonelected governmental officials about the value of the hub; and creating opportunities for both private and public funding.
Reporting to the president of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford and Titusville, the new executive director will develop short- and long-range goals, objectives, policies, and operating plans; serve as the hub’s outward-facing leader, spokesperson, and fundraiser; work closely with the president and university leaders to develop and steward resources; build and strengthen relationships with partners, K-12 systems, donors, supporters, and community, civic, and business leaders; and create and maintain a sustainable business model that is consistent with the hub’s overarching public purpose and core mission to support the economic development of the region. The executive director is responsible for a $5 million budget and 18 staff including three direct reports.
Requirements include a master’s degree and five years of progressive leadership experience focused on postsecondary educational opportunity, economic/workforce development or a related field. Additional requirements include experience with degree, certificate, and professional development programs as well as familiarity with educational models that support economic and workforce development; a talent and enthusiasm for fundraising, networking, and developing innovative strategies and plans for an evolving business model; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to sustain effective working relationships with internal and external constituencies; and strong administrative abilities in such areas as strategic planning, budgeting, resource management, contracts and procurement, the use of technology in administrative systems applications, and staff supervision.
The Pitt-Titusville Education and Training Hub seeks a persuasive, collaborative, inventive leader who is inspired by its mission and the opportunity to contribute to the economic revitalization of the region through an innovative education and training hub. The next executive director must demonstrate the intellectual vigor, vision, energy, and personal qualities necessary to lead the hub into the future and galvanize support for its all-important work.
