Position Summary:

The Instructor of Emergency Medical Services will teach undergraduate courses in the Emergency Medical Technician and Paramedic certificate and associate degree programs. Faculty members are expected to deliver instruction, perform service for their respective professions and community, and participate in the management of the Department, College, and University through shared governance.

Each member of the faculty has the duty to deliver instruction and maintain a learning environment consistent with the highest standards of the profession. The faculty has a responsibility to set degree requirements that are in line with university and accreditation standards, assess when they are met, and establish and maintain curricula that meet professional standards and fulfill the educational goals of the University.

Teaching requirements are primarily face-to-face with the potential for some online instruction.

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

    12-month, Non-Tenure Track position; teaching workload expected to be 15-credit hours per semester All faculty members, regardless or rank or tenure, are expected to undertake teaching, creative activity, service, and professional development in the best interest of the students, university, and community-at-large All faculty members are expected to assume student academic advisement responsibilities in addition to teaching loads and other duties Other duties as assigned
 

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Research, teaching, and/or professional experience in Emergency Medical Services; Emergency Medical Technician and Paramedic

Strong computer/technology skills required, or possess the ability to easily obtain needed skills. (Microsoft Office, Blackboard Learn and/or other Learning Management Systems (LMS), variety of WEB based programs, etc.)

Strong written and verbal communication skills required

A record of quality teaching or the potential for quality teaching must be demonstrated

Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Additional hours as requested and/or needed
Regular and reliable attendance

Minimum Qualifications:

An earned Baccalaureate Degree; a Master’s Degree is preferred, to teach at the associate degree level in the EMS program

Must hold an EMSP license and be licensed continuously for a minimum of two (2) years

Successful completion of an EMS instructor course

Current AHA BLS CPR Instructor

Current AHA ACLS Instructor
