Position Summary:

This is an advanced professional level budgeting and accounting position with varied responsibilities in the School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) Deans Finance Office. The principle components of this position are budget development and analysis, fund management, financial projecting and reporting, being a liaison, and training and process improvement. The SMPH has total expenditures of over $700 million annually. The funding for these expenses comes from federal and non-federal grants, gifts and endowments, state and campus support, and other outside sources. The incumbent will be required to gain a thorough knowledge of State, University and SMPH policies and procedures and apply them to situations within SMPH.

This position requires strong financial management and organizational skills and will have a significant degree of independence in this role. The incumbent will be working with campus administration, departmental administrators and their fiscal staff and with our affiliate health system finance colleagues.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's Degree Required.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Required:
-At least two years of relevant experience in accounting or budgeting is required.

Preferred:
-At least three years relevant experience in accounting or budgeting is preferred.
-Comprehensive knowledge and application of professional accounting and auditing theories and principles.
-Experience working with complex automated accounting systems and processes, including databases or queries.
-Experience providing technical assistance to diverse audiences with a range of accounting backgrounds.
-Strong organizational skills and oral and written communication skills.
-Experience creating and monitoring annual operating budgets.
-Experience generating financial models for projecting revenues and expenses.

Additional Information:

A minimum of 7 years' experience is required for appointment at the senior level.
