Job Description

The Graduate Assistant assists the Recreation Programming Coordinator in the direct supervision, development, and administration of a comprehensive recreation program including but not limited to Intramurals, Facility Operations, Aquatics, and Fitness. The goal of this position is to make recommendations and assist with implementation to redevelop the Missouri Western Recreation program that is tailored towards the needs and interests of the campus.

The Graduate Assistant will receive a monthly stipend and up to 9 graduate credit hours tuition per semester.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
*Assist with planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating a robust intramural program that consists of multi-week leagues, one-day events, and play-on- your-own competitions.
*Supervise and evaluate all Intramural Operations student employees
*Schedule all Intramural Operations student employees utilizing the W2W program.
*Reserve facility space for all recreation programs using 25Live.
*Create participant feedback tools that include but are not limited to surveys and focus groups.
*Assist with the development and enforcement of program policies and procedures for both student employees and participants.
*Inventory and research equipment and innovative trends to provide recommendations for quality intramural and open recreation opportunities.
*Run participant reports each quarter.
*Lead new marketing initiatives on campus and social media to better inform students about our programs.
*Provide representation for Recreation Services at Aquatic, Orientation Days, and other campus events.
*Serve on departmental and university committees as needed.
*Special projects and other duties as assigned by the Recreation Programming Coordinator.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, and employment is contingent on acceptance into MWSU Graduate School (3.0 GPA required for admission).
•You must be enrolled in Graduate Classes at Missouri Western State University (No GRE required).
•Must be able to work varied shifts 20 hours a week
•Must be able to lead and manage peers, faculty, staff and community members.
•Must be willing to learn all rules, regulations, policies and procedures concerned with the Recreation Services Department.
•Must have CPR, First Aid and AED Certifications (can certify if needed).
