The University of Akron (UA), Department of Development is
seeking to fill the position of Director of Development.
Responsibilities:
- Directing the fundraising activities targeted at individuals, corporations and foundations to broaden the base of funding sources for specific departments/colleges at UA
- Identifying and soliciting prospective donors for the assigned college or program
- Developing fundraising strategies for generating money from individuals, corporations and foundations
- Traveling to meet with prospective donors
- Writing a variety of documents related to fund raising initiatives; producing solicitation materials, informational brochures and documents for the purpose of motivating donors
- Establishing annual and long-range fundraising goals and objectives
- Attending meetings with University administration, community organizations, foundations, and business leaders to garner support for department/college programs
- Planning and organizing meetings related to fundraising events
Required Qualifications:
- Relevant Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in fundraising
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, marketing and sales skills
- Ability to work with internal and external constituents
- Strong organization skills and the ability to handle confidential materials
Preferred Qualifications:
- Higher education experience
- Previous management or marketing experience
- General knowledge of tax laws related to giving and planned giving options

Salary:
The salary range for this position
starts at $70,000 annually and is commensurate with experience and
qualifications. We offer a competitive compensation and
