• Function as a CAATE (Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education) approved preceptor for athletic training students from the University of Maine to include the following responsibilities. Clinical instruction will consist of 20 hours/week.
o Supervise students during clinical education.
o Provide instruction and assessment of the current knowledge, skills, and clinical abilities designated by the Commission.
o Provide instruction and opportunities for the student to develop clinical integration proficiencies, communication skills and clinical decision making during actual patient/client care.
o Provide assessment of athletic training students' clinical integration proficiencies, communication skills and clinical decision-making during actual patient/client care.
o Facilitate the clinical integration of skills, knowledge, and evidence regarding the practice of athletic training.
• prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation of injuries, illness and medical issues and the daily health care of all student-athletes
• medical coverage of athletic teams through daily practice coverage
• electronic medical record documentation
• athletic training room coverage during operation hours
• administrative duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer
• event coverage (home and away)
• overnight travel will also be required
Education: B.A. or B.S. degree required from a CAATE-approved
Athletic Training Education Program, Master's degree
preferred
NATA BOC certification
Maine State license
CPR certification
Experience: Minimum of one year working as a Certified Athletic Trainer
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities: Knowledge of Athletic Training skills which will include but not limited to: administrative skills, first aid, evaluation and assessment, rehabilitation and therapeutic modalities, as well as organizational skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Seeking individuals with character, integrity, and the leadership skills necessary to complement the Husson University Sports Medicine Team and the athletic department as a whole.
