ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

DIVISION OF MEDICAL AND POPULATION HEALTH SCIENCES EDUCATION AND RESEARCH 

DEPARTMENT OF TRANSLATIONAL MEDICINE

 

The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (HWCOM) is currently seeking candidates for a full-time Assistant Professor position within the Division of Medical and Population Health Sciences Education and Research, Department of Translational Medicine. The Assistant Professor will be mostly responsible for teaching research methodology to medical students, mentoring medical students in their curricular research projects, advising students in study design and on the effective implementation of their research training experience. Duties will mainly take place at our Modesto Maidique Campus (MMC) but may also involve community-based activities related to epidemiology, biostatistics, and data management activities. The qualified candidate will be involved in grants and research activities by leading and/or participating in grant writing and research proposals submission seeking external funding. In addition, the selected candidate will collaborate in administrative activities and will work closely with the FIU HWCOM affiliated clinical centers, contributing to the orientation, training, and coaching for HWCOM clinical partners through participation in student research activities.

 

Minimum qualifications include an MD with graduate training such as a Master’s or doctoral degree in epidemiology, biostatistics or health research. Preferred qualifications include prior experience mentoring medical or other graduate students on how to conduct clinical or population-based health research and teaching medical or graduate students in large class sessions.
