This is a 12-month continuing Administrative and Professional Staff (A&PS) position. In this full-time position, the Assistant Director of Admissions will join an experienced admissions team in the College of Arts and Sciences and will contribute to the overall recruitment efforts of Oberlin College. In addition to recruiting students and evaluating applications, the Assistant Director will work closely with one or more sub-teams within the office, taking on responsibilities in an additional area, such as event planning, student staff supervision, or communications. This position reports to the Director of Admissions.

• Accurately present Oberlin to students, parents, secondary
school counselors, and alumni in small and large group
settings.
• Interview and evaluate prospective applicants.
• Review, recommend, and present applications for admission to the
Admissions Committee.
• Travel (Covid permitting) for approximately 6-8 weeks a year,
representing Oberlin’s distinctive educational opportunities for
talented and diverse students at high schools, college fairs,
agencies and conferences.
• Correspond with students, parents, guidance counselors, agencies
and other constituencies.
• Assist with on-campus admissions events.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Experience and interest in working with prospective students,
families, and secondary school counselors.
• Ability to relate to and communicate with students and families
from diverse ethnic, racial, religious, socioeconomic, and cultural
backgrounds.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability and commitment to deliver first-class customer
service.
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, follow through, and
creative planning skills.
• Ability to analyze challenges and implement solutions in a
fast-paced environment.
• Ability to multi‐task, take initiative, establish priorities, and
function with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work within a team, as well as with stakeholders
across the college campus.
• Available to work flexible hours, including evenings and
weekends.
• A valid driver’s license and the ability to meet Oberlin College
insurability standards. Must be comfortable driving in unfamiliar
areas with GPS assistance in a wide variety of traffic
and weather conditions.
• Physical requirements include the ability to travel
independently, work on a computer for up to eight hours a day, and
lift up to 20 pounds.
• Available to start July 1, 2021
