Summary

The South Central AIDS Education & Training Center (SCAETC) at Baylor College of Medicine is one of the regional offices of the AIDS Education and Training Center (AETC) Program. The Coordinator, under the supervision of Shital Patel, MD, will primarily be responsible for developing and implementing educational and research projects in the BCM Infectious Diseases Section. This position will have dedicated duties for programs/projects for the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) funded grant for the South Central AIDS Education and Training Center (SCAETC).

Job Duties
  • Provides logistical support and coordination for events, including booking rooms, catering, advertising, ordering faculty services, and setting up/breaking down events.
  • Attends team development meetings for projects.
  • Maintains appropriate records for educational/training programs.
  • Responds promptly to queries generated by the University of New Mexico SCAETC central office or HRSA.
  • Participates in preparing grant proposals.
  • Creates promotional material.
  • Maintains project logs and providing weekly updates at team meetings.
  • Helps develop, implement, and conduct educational projects under the grant.
  • Maintains all BCM required training.
  • Maintains certification for Protection of Human Subjects.
  • Participates in conference calls for the SCAETC and as needed for specific projects or educational partners.
  • Attends project-specific meetings, locally and nationally.
  • Maintains a good working relationship with all investigators and team personnel.
  • Communicates effectively with multiple health agencies throughout the greater Houston area, University of New Mexico SCAETC central office, Thomas Street Health Center, Harris Health System, HRSA, and local educational partners.
  • Attends local meetings to help develop collaborations.
  • Inputs data into the pertinent tracking data system for the SCAETC.
  • Develops databases for specific projects.
  • Travels to educational partners.


Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Two years of relevant experience.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Health Sciences, or Biological Sciences preferred.
  • Experience in project management, curriculum development, or grant writing is a plus but not required.
