Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and exceptionally organized research technician with attention to detail for the management of our mutant mouse colonies in a newly established neuroscience laboratory in the Hunter James Kelly Research Institute. We are studying the mechanisms of axonal support by glial cells, and axon degeneration itself, using techniques on the molecular, cellular, and organismal level. The selected candidate will help with maintenance of our mouse models for neurodegenerative conditions. This includes all aspects of animal breeding and organization, tissue collection, genotyping methods (e.g. PCR and electrophoresis), and maintaining electronic records. The candidate must have computer experience, especially with MS Excel. Further, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s degree, or two years formal training in subject matter directly related to the project or program and at least 3 years of experience directly related to the project or program, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Basic knowledge of laboratory animal management and welfare, genetic recombination (e.g. Cre-loxP system), as well as PCR techniques are necessary.
