Position Summary:

Provide engineering expertise in designing, modifying and constructing University facilities including buildings, electrical distribution and physical plant infrastructure. This position will be responsible for planning, interpreting, designing and/or construction University facilities subject to regulatory and professional standards, developing cost-benefit engineering analyses comparing construction alternatives, and/or other duties typical of professional electrical engineer in an institution of higher education.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equal is required.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

1 year minimum working as an electrical engineer-design, construction and operational knowledge of electrical distribution systems from the source utility into the facility electric service. The ideal breadth of experience will include a variety of building occupancies types, and familiarity with power quality analysis, backup and emergency power supply, commercial electric service design, lightning protection, arc flash analysis, grounding, abnormal operating condition assessment and remediation, system protection and electric service restoration from source to service.

License or Certificate:

A professional engineering license, mechanical designer's license or the ability to acquire one within a year of starting employment preferred.
