Job Summary/Basic Function



Maryville University Athletics is accepting applications for a Coordinator of Athletics Communications. This is a full-time, exempt staff position at a top-tier NCAA Division II athletics program. Evening, weekend and holiday work are required, along with some travel.

Responsibilities
• Coordinate and supervise all video streaming for Maryville’s GLVC Sports Network broadcasts using BlueFrame production software.
• Conduct and produce interviews and other video content, both on- and off-camera.
• Serve as primary and secondary media contact for the University’s NCAA DII varsity sports. Sport assignment will be based on knowledge and previous work experience.
• Must be proficient in NCAA Genius software, StatCrew and/or Presto Stats.
• Produce and coordinate editorial content for the athletics website.
• Generate content for various social media platforms.
• Work closely with athletic administrators, coaches and student-athletes, as well as other SIDs at both the institutional and conference level.
• Handle media relations (interview requests, story pitches, etc.) both in St. Louis and nationally.
• Collaborate with other University groups when needed such as the marketing and communications office, the alumni association, etc.
• Contribute to the department’s creative content (graphic design, photography).
• Assist with hiring, training, and supervision of graduate assistants and student workers.
• Handle public address duties at athletics events as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Athletics Director for Communications.



Minimum Qualifications



• Bachelor’s degree in communications, sports administration or a related field (journalism or broadcasting)
• Previous work experience in a collegiate sports information office or a professional team’s media relations office (internships and educational experience will be considered)
• Strong communications skills, both written and oral
• Ability to work on deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Producing engaging social media content on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook
• A base of knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere)
• Ability to use digital camera and other photography skills



Preferred Qualifications



• Graphic design experience
• On-air broadcasting experience
• Familiarity with the SIDEARM website operations
