The University of Florida’s (UF) College of Liberal Arts and Sciences’ (CLAS) Academic Advising Center (AAC) is accepting applications for an academic advisor position as Assistant In Academic Advising - UF Online. The appointment is a renewable 12-month, time-limited, non-tenure track position.

Applicants should be detail-oriented with a strong ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; have experience working with diverse populations; have the ability to work both autonomously and as a part of a team; and an appreciation for a liberal arts and sciences background. The anticipated start date is July 23, 2021. The anticipated salary range is $48,000-$51,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes a full benefits package.

This position will work primarily with CLAS students enrolled in UF Online. The advisor will work closely with distance learners by providing full academic advising services, in accordance with AAC best practices as well as answering general inquiries, assisting with the development and delivery of online orientation, transition and success programs, creating academic plans, and monitoring academic progress. This advisor will also conduct outreach to CLAS UF Online students who are not currently enrolled. Strong computer skills, effective use of social media, and experience with distance advising is preferred. The advisor may also receive cross-training to acquire career and success coaching competencies.

In addition to the specific duties listed above, the incumbent will contribute to the mission of the AAC by performing general duties including advising undergraduate students in CLAS UF Online majors on academic requirements and policies, as well as students seeking admission to those majors; advising students in the development and completion of their academic and career goals; participating in various Academic Advising Center programs and initiatives including presenting academic workshops; working with UF’s orientation programs for freshmen and new transfer students; serving as a liaison to Beyond120 by collaborating with Beyond120 faculty to create career resources for UF Online students. Advisors may also have the opportunity to teach UF’s first-year experience course.

Minimum Requirements: A Master’s degree is required, preferably in student personnel, higher education, educational technology, counseling, or related fields, along with relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Academic Advising and working with distance/online students is preferred.
