Manager of Central Receiving

 

Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for the full-time position of Manager of Central Receiving (Supply Manager II) in the Office of Procurement Services. Reporting to the Director of Procurement Services, the position, under limited supervision, manages the Central Receiving area of the University – including receiving, distribution, and inventory control – to ensure the University’s objectives related to goods requirements and sound inventory management are met. 

 

Duties will include, but are not limited to: managing the processes of receiving and distribution of supplies and equipment obtained via University purchase orders and purchasing cards; ensuring receiving records are properly recorded and maintained; overseeing the prompt and accurate receipt of supplies and equipment physically into the warehouse and onto the appropriate accounting records; ensuring the tagging of appropriate items is completed within specified time periods; entering all identifying information into the inventory database, including calculating total costs on new items, and making revision entries for internal departmental relocation of items; supervising Central Receiving staff to ensure the department meets its objectives; correspond with the University’s Controller’s Office and Accounts Payable on matters involving receiving and inventory records; serve as the University’s main liaison with the S.C. State Surplus Office including coordination of removal and/or sales of surplus and obsolete items per the requirements of S.C. code; oversee an annual physical inventory of tagged University property and preparing associated reports of same; manage a system for the recycling of surplus departmental items; ensuring the Central Receiving Warehouse is maintained in an orderly and secure manner; and perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Procurement Services.

 

Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and two (2) years of work experience managing a receiving, distribution, and inventory control operation, including employee supervision is required. A bachelor’s degree in a business-related field and one (1) year of experience as described may be substituted.

 

Preferred Qualifications:  Five (5) years of work experience managing a receiving, distribution, and inventory control operation, including employee supervision, work experience in a central receiving operation for a higher education institution, a bachelor's degree in accounting or other business-related field and certification as a forklift operator are preferred.
