Position Responsibilities:

University is now accepting applications for a nine-month
tenure-track Assistant Professor of History and Interdisciplinary
Studies. This position is a joint appointment in the Department of
History and Philosophy and the Interdisciplinary Studies
Department.Applicants should possess expertise in the study of
gender and history, with an expectation of teaching Women’s History
and courses in the Gender and Women’s Studies program.The ideal
candidate will have an ability to teach in other interdisciplinary
undergraduate and graduate programs as well as general education
courses. A commitment to excellence in teaching, complemented by
strong scholarship and service, is expected of all faculty members
in KSU’s College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Faculty teach
courses in a variety of modalities including face-to-face, hybrid,
and online.
Required Education, qualifications, and
experience:
A Ph.D. in History, Gender Studies, or
related field, or the foreign equivalent, is required by time of
hire, as well as a record of effective university teaching and
demonstrated potential for research.Applicants with the training,
ability, and/or experience equivalent to the minimum degree may be
considered.
The College of Humanities and Social Sciences is the largest college at KSU, enrolling more than 7000 students in 30 undergraduate and graduate programs. The Department of History and Philosophy offers a B.A. in History, a B.S. in History Education, and a B.A. in Philosophy. The Interdisciplinary Studies Department offers an M.A. in American Studies, a B.A. in African and African Diaspora Studies and Asian Studies, and minors in Gender and Women’s Studies and six other areas.
