The Department of Health and Human Performance at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga College of Health, Education and Professional Studies invites applications for a non-tenure-track position in Exercise Science, Pedagogy and Health and Physical Education beginning August 1, 2021.

The University of Tennessee Chattanooga, Department of Health and Human Performance, invites applications for a 9-month non-tenure-track faculty position at the Lecturer level. The successful candidate will provide teaching support within the exercise and health sciences (EHS) and health and physical education (HPE K-12) concentrations. Examples of undergraduate courses the applicant might teach include but are not limited to: anatomy and physiology, exercise physiology, exercise prescription/lab, resistance training, health promotion and programming, community and environmental health, health behavior change, research methods, school health program, physical fitness, and elementary physical education. The successful candidate will also coordinate the exercise and health sciences internship opportunities. Working collaboratively and cooperatively with faculty and staff within the department, college, and clinical sites is essential.

Qualifications :
Successful candidates will possess the following requirements:
Earned Master’s Degree or higher in EHS or HPE K-12 or closely related field.
NOTE: Individuals who are "all but dissertation" (ABD) will be considered for faculty positions at UTC; however, the degree must be awarded within twelve months of the first semester of employment.

  • Proven experience in fields such as exercise physiology, resistance training, exercise testing and programming and other fields related to EHS or HPE K-12.
  • Ability to teach undergraduate courses in EHS or HPE K-12 as listed above.
  • College-level teaching experience and/or HPE K-12 teaching.
  • Candidates should also be willing to engage in a variety of instructional modalities, including online instruction and experiential learning.
  • Willingness to engage in assisting the UTC campus in its ability to reach additional goals as specified in UTC’s strategic plan.
  • Excellent communication including verbal, written and presentation skills to work with diverse groups.


Preferred Qualifications :

  • Undergraduate teaching experience including online instruction
  • Teaching health and physical education in a public or private K-12 setting
  • Applicable field experience
  • Active participation in a professional organization pertaining to the field
