Leading at Our Campus:

 Ivy Tech Community College Fort Wayne is located in Allen County (pop. 379,000) and serves the 10 surrounding counties of: Adams, DeKalb, Huntington, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, and Whitley. Greater Fort Wayne (pop. 780,000) is one of the fastest growing communities in the Midwest, located nearly equidistant between Chicago, Indianapolis, Detroit, Columbus, and Cleveland. Strong community engagement has led to community

learning centers situated throughout the service area, as well as an Ivy Tech site located in Warsaw. The campus serves 55 high schools and career centers and has strong community connections, partnerships, and grant-funded programs. The Ft. Wayne main campus includes the Coliseum and North campuses includes comprehensive academic, student success and administrative facilities, as well as state-of-the-art skilled trade and program-specific learning labs. The campus is also located near Purdue University-Ft. Wayne and Indiana University-Ft. Wayne with student housing available. In addition to these two institutions, the service area has a rich higher education ecosystem including institutions such as Trine, Indiana Tech, Manchester University, Huntington University, and St. Francis University. The Warsaw site has full student services, labs, and administrative facilities as well. The Fort Wayne campus also attracts student athletes by offering men’s baseball and women’s volleyball through NJCAA athletics.

 

The primary economic sectors in the Fort Wayne campus service area include manufacturing, health care and medical devices, specialty insurance, design and craftsmanship, logistics and e-commerce, food and beverage, and advanced materials. The area has a solid base of industry, small business, and three major hospital systems. It is the headquarters for numerous national companies including Steel Dynamics, Sweetwater Sound, 80/20, Vera Bradley, and Ruoff Mortgage. Ivy Tech Fort Wayne works collaboratively with local leaders to attract and retain businesses in the communities it serves.

 

In response to the diverse needs of the region, Ivy Tech Fort Wayne has developed a significant focus on healthcare, advanced manufacturing, skilled trades, public services, information technology, business, and supply chain programs, as well as transfer programs that encourage students to complete their education at one of our many four-year partners. Dual credit/enrollment education arrangements with local high schools provide both on and off-campus classes that provide college and high school credit.

General Purpose and Scope of Position:

 The Chancellor is the senior administrator for all campus services and is responsible for the management and oversight of the day-to-day campus operations while fostering a campus climate that is consistent with the College's core values. Focused on increasing enrollment, student success, retention, credential completions, transfer success, and career placement the Chancellor consults with Systems Office and campus Cabinet to: (1) achieve strategic plan mission, vision, goals and metrics; (2) build new and varied employer and community outreach and partnerships (3) ensure the availability of the College's instructional and student support services; (4) oversee fundraising for the campus, and (5) develop and lead a team to successfully implement strategies in order to meet the needs of a diverse community and student body on campus. Works closely with Vice President of Strategic Operations, campus support team and Systems Office. Reports directly to the President.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree required.
  • Three or more years of substantial and successful leadership and management experience at the executive level.
  • Must possess excellent organizational, planning, evaluation, interpersonal and communication skills and have an ability and willingness to travel.
  • Must be adept at resolving individual and group conflicts, and must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven ability to identify key issues and to carry forward an idea or project from conception to execution.
  • Track record of thinking conceptually and mastering complex subject matter quickly.
  • Good judgment, discretion, tact and the ability to work easily with senior leaders within the education, charitable, government, and business sectors.
  • Proven ability to partner well with colleagues both in and outside of the organization.
  • Ability to promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by our students and employees and which every individual feels respected and valued.

 

Preferred Qualifications:            

  • Doctorate Degree
  • Three or more years of substantial and successful leadership and management experience at the executive level, preferably in post-secondary education
  • Evidence of working with adult students' success
