Augustana University seeks to fill a visiting, full-time position in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August, 2021.  A search to fill a tenure-track Physical Chemistry position will be initiated in Fall 2021 and the successful candidate may choose to be a candidate for that position, as well.

Primary Responsibilities: (1) Instruction of general chemistry and physical chemistry courses (lecture and laboratory) for majors and non-majors, and (2) instruction of nonmajor chemistry courses (lecture).  This position includes a heavy laboratory component, with a target total load of 14-16 student contact hours per fall/spring semester.  The successful applicants will have a demonstrated dedication to undergraduate education, a commitment to innovative and excellent teaching, the capability to adhere to the timelines of a rigorous curriculum, and the ability to meet the flexible instructional needs of the Department. Summer teaching opportunities outside of the base teaching load may be available. Research/scholarship is not an expectation for the position. 

Qualifications: Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry.  Candidates with post-doctoral training and a strong record of undergraduate instruction in general chemistry and physical chemistry are preferred. 

Salary: Salary is competitive and dependent upon qualifications; excellent fringe benefits are included.
