The L. A. Pittenger Student Center at Ball State University is seeking to fill the position of Assistant Director of Operations. This position is part of the leadership team for the Student Center with responsibility over the evening and weekend management of the Student Center facility. This position manages custodial and maintenance services, coordinates with the facility reservations team, and provides management for large events in the Student Center. The Assistant Director of Operations supports student leaders and other event planners in the execution of their events. This position also has responsibilities pertaining to supervision of personnel, human resources, management, facility operations, and assisting the Director for Student Center and Programs in planning future facility upgrades and ensuring the building is continually providing a positive experience for guests.

Position Function

Manage the daily operations of the Student Center, including event reservations; building maintenance; custodial operations (three shifts 7 days/week); and student operations staff; liaison with some offices housed in the Student Center regarding day-to-day operations; personnel functions for custodial staff; and budget execution for areas of responsibility. Maintain a work schedule of days from Tuesday through Saturday.

Minimum Education

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college.

Minimum Experience

At least one year of work experience in a college unions, building operations, or closely related field.

Minimum Other

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Authorization to work in the US

Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Education

Master’s degree.

Preferred Experience

At least two years of professional experience in college union administration or related field.

Preferred Other

Demonstrated ability to effectively manage diverse operations.
