Job Description:
The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Fairfield University invites applications for the renewable, one-year position of Visiting Assistant Professor of Spanish beginning September 1, 2021. Teaching duties include 4 courses per semester. In addition to elementary and intermediate language instruction, the candidate will teach a seminar on topics such as Spanish American Narrative, Spanish-American Civilization, Composition and Conversation, or Textual Analysis. Field of specialization preferred: Latin American Literature and Culture
Requirements:
Applicants will have a PhD in Spanish, or related field, in hand or near completion; native or near-native fluency in Spanish; evidence of excellence in undergraduate teaching. Evidence of excellence in teaching all levels of Spanish language is required. The successful candidate will demonstrate familiarity with ACTFL guidelines, and experience in using technology in the curriculum. Also, the successful candidate will maintain an active research agenda on their field of specialization.
