Summary

Mange, coordinate, and assist in directing the daily operations of recreation facilities including the CBU Recreation Center that reflects the Christian values of California Baptist University.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Provide leadership, direction, and oversight of recreation facilities including the CBU Recreation Center.
2. Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate Recreation Center professional staff and student workers.
3. Oversee the daily staffing, calendaring of events, and daily operation of the Recreation Center.
4. Assist in establishing and implementing short-and long-range organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates programmatic and oversee facility and equipment maintenance.
5. Oversee regular health and safety inspections.
6. Oversee the purchase and inventory of equipment.
7. Assist in the development and management of appropriate departmental budgets.
8. Assess campus community use, satisfaction, and the overall effectiveness of programs, services, and facilities.
9. Provide support to University departments in the development and implementation of recreation initiatives, as deemed appropriate by the Director of Campus Recreation.
10. Maintain scheduled office hours, with the requirement of a flexible schedule of availability at night and on weekends.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervise employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.

 Ability to plan, develop, and coordinate multiple projects.
 Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position.
 Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information.
 Ability to recruit, train, supervise, and motivate graduate assistants, student employees, and/or volunteers.
 Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff and student body.
 Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
 Strong organizational skills and detailed oriented.
 Ability to coordinate and organize meetings and/or special events.
 Knowledge of standard budgeting and expenditure control procedures and documentation.
 Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelors degree from a four-year college or university; and two to three years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
