License/Certification Required Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Administrative/Management/Supervisory:

  • Recruit, select, train, and supervise 1 ACT Graduate Assistant ( ACT GA), with the potential to co-supervise/advise other practicum students and interns on special projects.
  • Co-advise ACT Leadership Team with the Assistant Director for ASE .
  • Advise the impACT Team and their associated committees of passion project groups.
  • Supervise undergraduate student employees (Service Advisors).
  • Develop and maintain positive group dynamics of all groups through personal and team development.
  • Create an environment that supports thoughtful dialogue, critical reflection, and innovative thinking.
  • Plan and facilitate recurring team meetings in close collaboration with ACT Leadership Team and co-advisors.
  • Shared oversight of ACT Community Outreach Center, in collaboration with ACT GA.
  • Manage portion of ACT programming budget.
  • Manage logistics for major events, including ensuring proper safety, liability processes, and the fiscal integrity of all endeavors.
  • Perform assessment for each major event and associated learning outcomes, and improve event as needed (assess other areas as needed) and share results with key collaborators.
  • Spearhead ACT’s democratic engagement initiatives and strategies including supervising CEEP fellows, active membership on the Election Engagement Sustainability Committee, and oversight of vote.appstate.edu website design and content to ensure nonpartisan information and resources are available to students faculty, staff, and county residents.


Instruction/Training:

  • Plan and facilitate ongoing training and development opportunities for ACT Team, in close collaboration with co-advisors.
  • Plan and facilitate ongoing training and development opportunities for Service Advisors, in close collaboration with ACT GA.
  • Co-facilitate and plan ACT retreat education sessions alongside the Assistant Director for ASE .
  • Conduct regular workshops/presentations/trainings on various topics for both internal and external audiences.
  • Teach academic courses on a semester by semester basis as approved by your supervisor.
  • Recruit, select, and train Service Advisors.


Communication:

  • Effective communication with other staff and Community Partners regarding volunteers, volunteer opportunities/needs, ACT major events, ongoing projects, etc.
  • Keep ACT Associate Director informed of current ACT information and developments.
  • Work as a liaison among student leaders, ACT team, and overall department staff.
  • Oversee the management and upkeep of appropriate/relevant section of the website.
  • Oversee/ensure the appropriate use of Engage as a platform for student engagement.
  • As needed, co-facilitate weekly meetings of ACT staff for information exchange and general planning, including education on root causes, community issues, and community partner needs.


Marketing/Outreach:

  • Oversee marketing efforts for all ACT major events and ensure all publicity meets ACT guidelines, including “brand” congruency throughout all publicity.
  • Market ACT on a continuous basis through “institutional marketing” for general awareness & promotion of ACT program as a whole.
  • Serve as a team member responsible for student focused ACT marketing efforts and social media.
  • Recruit, select, and train student leaders, participants, & faculty/staff leadership for all ACT programs
    In collaboration with all staff, oversee the planning and preparation of the End of Year ACT publication.
  • Regular communication with campus and/or community constituents for awareness of ACT programs.


Collaboration:

  • Work with the ACT professional staff to further the strategic directions of the ACT team.
  • Collaborate with multiple on and off-campus community partners on various events.
  • Provide opportunities for professional staff and faculty to collaborate with ACT through ACT events and other opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the department on relevant programming, training, and other initiatives.
