Title: Accounting Associate
Position Summary: The purpose of this position is to coordinate the awarding and disbursing of scholarships and 3rd Party charges. Provides customer service, performs all duties which relate to accounting which includes accounts payable or accounts receivable, cashiering duties, cash handling, and communicates with the general public. Performs other job related duties relative to the area of responsibility.
Duties and Responsibilities: Compiles and prepares appropriate data for accounts receivable and third party billing; ensures accuracy of data for billing purpose; coordinates with outside 3rd party sponsors. Responsible for updating Banner for all 3rd Party sponsors, contracts and exemptions, and discounts and fee waivers. Maintain accurate accounting for all 3rd party and outside scholarships sources. Responsible for coordinating bookstore charges with Follett Bookstore. Serves as cashier when needed. Assists with check printing and preparing daily deposit as needed. Balances cash and receipts; prepare deposits. Assists vendors, departments, employees, and students by providing requested information or materials. Maintains confidentiality of information and works in accordance with FERPA guidelines on the disclosure of information. Performs a variety of general clerical duties including word processing, maintain files and records, and processing incoming and outgoing mail. Inputs documents into computerized accounting programs and processes customer output. Process computer generated reports as necessary; reviews for accuracy. Responsible for supplemental telephone coverage. Provides competent, professional and quality service. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Five (5) years of general accounting or bookkeeping experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Associate's degree.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Work Characteristics: Must demonstrate excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Imtermiediate skill level using Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Internet. Knowledge of Principles and procedures of financial record keeping and reporting. Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment. Ability to direct the flow of a considerable volume of detailed work. Knowledge of basic clerical, accounting principles and procedures, basic bath skills. Knowledge of Banner computer system and its operations. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the students, public and other employees. Ability to use own initiative, prioritize, meet deadlines, and must be detail oriented.
Pay Rate: 29,630.00 - 35,560.00 annual salary depending on experience
