ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR 

COURSE DIRECTOR FOR BASIC SCIENCES IN MEDICAL EDUCATION 

The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (HWCOM) at Florida International University (FIU) is currently seeking  applicants for a full-time, non-tenure Assistant/Associate Professor faculty position. The ideal candidate will have a history of teaching excellence in medical education and the leadership skills to serve as Course Director in basic science courses  in periods 1 or 2. The selected candidate will provide instruction in basic science courses across multiple disciplines 

including Cell Biology, Physiology, Anatomy, and Pharmacology and serve as facilitator for small group discussion in case based learning, problem-based learning, and other small group sessions. In addition, this position will collaborate with  clinical and basic science faculty for the development of clinical cases to emphasize basic science curriculum and will  participate in the development and review of exams and evaluation of learning outcomes. 

Minimum qualifications for this position include a terminal doctoral degree MD/DO or PhD in basic science disciplines, such as Biomedical Sciences, Anatomy, Pharmacology, Molecular and Cellular Biology, or related field. Flexibility to teach  across multiple disciplines, expertise in the use of technology and active learning instruction, three (3) years of relevant  teaching experience in medical education, and previous experience as a Course Director are strongly desired.
