The Position: Under the general direction of the Director and Medical Chief of Staff, the Associate Director is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Student Health Center (SHC). This position is principally responsible for the administration and oversight of the SHC’s budget and fiscal activities, facility management, security of information technology, specialty clinics and all non-clinical units of the SHC. As a key member of the leadership team, the incumbent will have a supervisory relationship with all staff, providing support and guidance along with ensuring the efficient and effective operation of all units in accordance with University, CSU state and federal policies and guidelines. The Associate Director supports student success through continuous quality improvement and serves as the Administrator in charge in the absence of the Director.

                                                                                                                                                                              

Required Qualifications and Experience: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in business, health care administration/management, or a related field. Extensive knowledge and experience in administration, organizational development, personnel management, strategic planning, budgeting, and fiscal management. Knowledge and experience using standard software applications, including Microsoft Office suite for word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. A positive customer service philosophy for both internal and external constituents with the ability to: lead and supervise the work of others; perform independently in a wide range of duties, in self-directed manner; perform work accurately and demonstrate sound judgment under pressure; compile, prepare, write, and review error-free reports; negotiate, collaborate and communicate effectively; develop and implement policies and procedures, following pertinent guidelines, regulations and laws; maintain confidentiality; appropriately handle sensitive information; and exercise discretion in handling critical situations. Demonstrated interest and ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.

 

Desired Qualifications: Prior progressively responsible management and supervisory experience in a college campus or university setting. Knowledge and experience with health care delivery and medical record systems, technology related project management and/or oversight of IT support services.

 

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. A comprehensive benefits package is provided.

 

Appointment:  The Administrator II appointment will be made under the guidelines for management and supervisory employees of the California State University.  All rights and benefits associated with this appointment are governed by the Management Personnel Plan.
