King Library: Budget Specialist will manage all of the university libraries accounts, approve expenditures, and track spending in the University Libraries.  The University Libraries are engaged in an annual continuing strategic planning process (lib.miamioh.edu/strategic/) attendant to the university’s strategic plan (https://miamioh.edu/about-miami/leadership/president/strategic-plan/). Duties include and are not limited to:

  • Analyze costs and expenditures and prepare fiscal projections for use in determining budget
  • Perform financial analysis to help determine financial feasibility of new or revised programs/services
  • Perform key analytical and coordination tasks in support of of the annual and multi-year budget processes and planning exercises
  • Prepare routine and ad hoc financial reports and presentations that present complex financial information in a simplified clear manner for a range of stakeholders
  • Maintain, balance and reconcile all Library accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Analyze budgets, accounts, expenditures and transfers.
  • Investigate issues and discrepancies and research solutions
  • Compile and report financial information for management analysis and decision making needs
  • Utilize and maintain automated reporting systems
  • May develop databases, logs, and spreadsheets to maintain records and create reports
  • Coordinates preparation of budget with department heads
  • May provide training to others on budgeting preparation process and procedures
  • Provides support to and may serve on LEAN committees
  • Serve as a library liaison to Accounts Payable, Procurement, and Treasury Services
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required: Bachelor’s degree; Demonstrated experience in budget preparation, planning, and budget analysis; Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills; Ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time and to work well under deadline pressure; Ability to work independently and as a part of a team; Ability to handle confidential matters using sound judgment and discretion; Successfully demonstrate computer skills, including spreadsheets; High standards of customer service.

This position is available to persons who are currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time and indefinite basis. (Persons authorized to work on such a basis include US citizens, lawful permanent residents (“green card” holders), asylees, refugees, and temporary residents under IRCA.)
