Position Summary:

The Division of University Housing is committed to providing an exceptional workplace for its workforce of approximately 450 career staff members and over 2,000 students. University Housing provides an inclusive and safe working environment that promotes engagement, empowerment, and professional development. University Housing operates nineteen residence halls across the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus, providing a home to over 7,500 undergraduate students. We also operate three apartment communities, serving about 2,500 graduate students, academic staff, postdoctoral researchers, faculty, and their families. In addition, we manage seven dining venues across campus, and provide conference group and youth camp housing throughout the summer months.

University Housing is divided into five main departments: Administration, Dining & Culinary Services, Residence Hall Facilities, Residence Life, and University Apartments. Whether we're launching new academic support services, testing out a new recipe, renovating resident rooms, organizing welcome events, cleaning our facilities, or inviting a new summer youth camp to campus, everything that we do is to support the mission of the University and fulfill University Housing's goal to be, "The place everyone wants to live."

Residence Life is part of the Division of University Housing of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. As a student service, the University residence halls provide quality living and learning environments and programs to 8,000 undergraduate student residents. Residence Life is responsible for the student and professional staff and programs that creates an inclusive academic and learning environment for over 8,000 undergraduate student residents.

Under the general direction of the Director of Residence Life, this position is responsible for creation, direction and management of student leadership, engagement and learning. The Assistant Director of Residence Life will have direct supervision of a graduate student serving as the Student Engagement Advisor and indirect supervision of student staff supporting special events. The Assistant Director of Residence Life will have direct supervision responsibilities for Residence Life Coordinators. . In this position, the ability to work with diverse students with a variety of needs is important.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

A Master's degree is required. A Master's degree in Higher Education, Counseling and Guidance, Student Personnel, Student Affairs or a related field is preferred.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

3 years of full-time work experience in Housing, Residence Life or Student Leadership is required.

Preference will be given to candidates with the following experiences:
*Delivery of student leadership programs and services
*Supervision and training of student staff
*Working with and supporting diverse populations

Additional Information:

Schedule: Daytime business hours; some evening and weekend hours may be required based on operational need. Serve in the on-call rotation.
