Sidwell Friends School, a coeducational Quaker day school with campuses in NW Washington, DC and Bethesda, MD is seeking an Auxiliary Programs Associate. The Auxiliary Program Associate provides hands on and programmatic support for all aspects of the Auxiliary Programs Department. This department is responsible for a variety of programs including extended day, afterschool enrichment, summer programs, school store, facility rentals, shuttle service, as well as new program development. An ideal candidate will possess a sense of humor, warmth, and humility, and have excellent communication skills, both oral and written. They are ambitious and hardworking, often going over and above to support students. They must be physically able to participate in activities with students/campers and use sound judgment; move between campuses as needed; be resourceful and capable of working with minimal supervision. The qualified candidate must at all times demonstrate a high degree of professionalism.

Successful candidates will possess a minimum of an undergraduate degree or 3-5 years of relevant work experience is required. Experience working with children and families in a camp/after school environment is a plus. Additionally, a qualified candidate must have strong organizational and communication skills, flexibility, patience, sense of humor, and a demonstrated love for working with children and their families.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift boxes/materials of 30 pounds
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time: events, carpool, shuttle bus
  • Ability to walk around campus and buildings
  • Ability to sit and interact with children on the floor, playground, grass
  • Ability to travel between campuses


This full-time position begins late August (8/26 School Orientation) with hours varying from 7:00 am - 6:00 pm, Monday-Friday. Candidates must be able to successfully complete all background check requirements at the time of hire, undergo routine testing for COVID-19 as well as adherence to all health and safety protocols associated with working on campus. CPR/AED certification is required (can be completed once hired).

As a condition of employment, all employees hired after August 1, 2021 are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and able to provide proof of such vaccination. To make application for a medical or religious exemption, please contact the human resources department.
