Vacancy Number: S-00731 Position Title: Nursing Advising and Recruiting Manager Classification Title: Program/Project Manager Department: College of Nursing and Health Sciences Administration Employment Type: Full-Time Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides supervision and management of every aspect of the advising and registration process.

Provide a thorough orientation to the College of Nursing and Health Sciences for new prenursing students in conjunction with the university New Student Orientations.

Advisement of all prenursing students each semester to provide guidance in course selection, address questions and offer advice as necessary.

Provide guidance to prenursing and nursing students regarding the Webster registration process.

Function as a liaison to other departments to assure course availability for prenursing students throughout the registration process.

Develop and continually update advising materials to facilitate the orientation, advising and registration process for new and continuing prenursing students.

Identify students in need of special services and refer to the appropriate department such as the Counseling Center, Career Development, the Learning Center for tutoring, or the Center for Special Services.

Function as a student advocate with various departments to assure the continued enrollment of prenursing students. Examples include assisting in the admission process, financial aid referrals, seeking articulation of courses through the Registrar’s Office, obtaining course waivers from the proper academic departments for transfer credit, and evaluating applicable hours for Veterans benefits for the Financial Aid Office.

Assist with the advisement and registration of School of Nursing students in the absence of their regular advisor.

Develop mechanisms to increase the prenursing students’ involvement with the College such as a prenursing student club, mentoring partnerships with upper division students, and other activities.

Engage in recruitment activities and develop pipeline programs for the nursing program.

Help coordinate annual recruitment initiatives with faculty; participate in in-state activities when possible.

Provide oversight for PR materials and other marketing materials to maintain an adequate supply at all times.

Represent the College of Nursing and Health Sciences on various university committees such as the Advising Committee and Academic Standards as assigned. Participate in admission, progression and graduation committee work and attend SON meetings as needed.

Participate in College of Nursing and Health Sciences committees as assigned.

Provide a preliminary evaluation of transfer credit for students considering a transfer to the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.

Develop and implement a strong recruiting plan designed to facilitate the continued growth of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.

Represent the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at events such as Career Days and College Fairs to share information about the profession of nursing to potential students.

With help from the advising assistant, manage initial student inquiries about the College of Nursing and Health Sciences and perform follow up.

Mail and email information to prospective students as requested.

Participate in university wide student recruiting and orientation programs, including New Student Orientations, and high school and junior college career or college fairs.

Develop brochures and other informational items about the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Assure that the information on the College of Nursing and Health Sciences website directed to potential students and to the current prenursing student population is up to date and accurate.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Master’s Degree and two years (2) of related work experience; or a Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) years of related work experience.
