Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Controller’s Office provides financial, accounting and management reporting support services to the university. The Controller’s Office is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, supervising and administering all accounting functions related to the operation of UNCW and the integration of the budget and procurement system into the official financial records of the university. The accounting function is responsible for the consolidation and maintenance of university financial records in order to provide accurate and complete financial data to university management and state and federal agencies.

Brief Summary of Work for this Position
This Accountant position is responsible for various accounting and financial reporting projects, policy and website review and revisions, account reconciliations, journal entries, account analysis, and other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Graduation from a four-year college or university including 12 hours of accounting; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Diplomas or degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Preferred education, professional skills and experience
Four-year degree in accounting, finance, business management or other discipline related to area of work preferred
MSA graduates encouraged to apply
Preferred skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Acute attention to detail
- Proficient skill with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to interpret financial data
- Ability to perform analyses of financial data and
processes
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge and application of accounting theories and principles
