Job Summary/Basic Function

The Special Projects Manager, President’s Office will support the work of the Chief of Staff and the operations of the President’s Office. This work includes coordination of and collaboration on major office and University-wide initiatives and events, project management, information flow, and public relations in order to advance the goals and the strategic plan of the University. The successful candidate must be committed to fostering a culturally diverse atmosphere for faculty, staff, and students.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Chief of Staff with specialized and confidential duties for the Board of Trustees including assisting with planning and execution of meetings, responding to Trustee requests, and other related tasks
• Represent the President’s Office in coordinating a variety of in-person and virtual campus events including but not limited to convocations, commencement, and award ceremonies
• Serves as a liaison or chair to high priority committees and projects; provide guidance and establish expectations to meet timelines and goals
• Draft and disseminate communications to the campus community and Board of Trustees on behalf of the President’s Office
• Manage design, selection, and production of print materials and creative pieces sent from the President’s Office
• Provide crisis management support
• Accurately represent the President’s position and direction to other leaders
• Represent the President’s Office at meetings when President and Chief of Staff are unavailable
• Prepare and/or contributes to the preparation of reports, proposals, briefings, and presentations
• Carries out special projects as assigned
• Serve on search committees as needed
• Manage President’s Office archives and record retention
• Perform research and gather information to support projects and office needs
• Provide backup support to the Executive Assistant to the President



Minimum Qualifications



• Bachelor’s degree
• Knowledge of Apple technology and Microsoft Office Suite
• Prior experience in providing support to executive-level personnel
• Experience in program or project management
• Curiosity around emerging trends and aptitude for changing technology
• Ability to exercise diplomacy, good judgment, discretion and maintain confidentiality at the highest level
• Ability to work calmly under pressure and collaboratively within a team
• Extraordinary organizational skills and appreciation for the challenges of supporting the work of the President’s Office
• Exceptional communication, writing, and editing skills; ability to compose and critique proper communications and other materials
• Ability to prioritize, plan, coordinate and direct multiple projects and activities with varied deadlines
• Ability to manage details, anticipate needs and maintain high standards of conduct
• Ability to view projects and tasks through a strategic lens and with a future orientation
• Seeks opportunities for improvement and innovation
• Bias for execution and ability to drive others to produce results



Preferred Qualifications



• Previous experience in higher education, government or similarly complex organization
• Previous project management experience
