Position Summary: Chatham University is seeking a full-time Assistant Professor/ Clinical Coordinator (CC), under the supervision of the Program Director (PD), is responsible for the joint coordination of all clinical activities associated with the Physician Assistant Program. In addition, the Clinical Coordinator provides some instruction in the program. This faculty position is a Professor of Practice and is responsible for all duties outlined in the Faculty Manual.

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree required
  • 3-5 years' experience required in either PA education or clinical work
  • Current PA Certification from NCCPA


Supervision:

General Supervision: Dean, School of Health Sciences

Daily Supervision: Director, PA Program

General Duties and Responsibilities

Academic/Clinical Responsibilities :

  • Provides classroom instruction and student assessment as directed by the PD
  • Coordinate development of new clinical curricula and courses as well as courses' syllabi, objectives, and outlines
  • Monitor, coordinate, and revise the clinical curriculum to comply with changes in accreditation requirements, program structure and program philosophy as needed
  • Assist in the development, evaluation, review, and revision of the clinical curricula
  • Perform clinical site activities, including student scheduling, site coordination, site evaluation and site development in cooperation with the Associate Director of Clinical Education and the other members of the clinical faculty
  • Help to maintain the clinical site database on EXXAT
  • Participate in the recommendation and procurement of education materials
  • Perform clinical site visits and evaluations as needed


Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Initiate contacts with and cultivate new clinical training sites
  • Assist with preparation of affiliation agreements and contracts of clinical training sites
  • Analyze preceptor and student evaluations
  • Participate in accreditation review, assessment, and implementation of changes on an ongoing basis


Professional Responsibilities:

  • Actively pursue continuing education activities as required for maintaining professional qualifications
  • Maintains professional certifications and/or licenses required by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and the Pennsylvania's State Board of Medicine
  • Participate in university and professional committees as outlined in the Faculty Manual


Duties (as directed by the PD):

  • Represent the program at national, state, local, and college meetings and other activities as directed by the PD
  • Maintain appropriate files, records, and computerized database
  • Participate in faculty, program, school, and college meetings
  • Participate in the interview and selection process for FT/PT faculty and preceptors
  • Participate in the student application and selection process
  • Participate in the recruitment of new students to include presentations at program orientation seminars and visitations to local schools, colleges and universities
  • Assist the PD with preparation for ARC-PA accreditation and re-accreditation site visits and self-study reports
  • Serve as an academic and clinical advisor for students in the program
  • Keep the PD informed on the progress of all assignments
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the program director
