The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Florida invites applications for a full-time hospitalist position. Duties and responsibilities include providing patient care and education in an academic medical setting. Incumbent will be expected to diagnose, treat and manage diseases, injuries, and disorders of the eye, and associated structures as well as identify related systemic conditions affecting the eye. Hospitalist is responsible for performing consultations in the inpatient and emergency department settings. The incumbent will work with current faculty to provide a training environment for medical students and residents. Participation in teaching conferences, lectures, grand rounds and other related meetings is essential. Will participate in the on-call rotation for after hours and emergency coverage for general ophthalmology.

Salary, rank, and tenure status will be commensurate with credentials and experience. The College of Medicine has an active compensation plan which includes incentives and bonuses. Employer will assist with relocation cost.

Professional liability protection and sovereign immunity are administered by the Florida Board of Governors self-insurance program.

Qualifications include clinical expertise in ophthalmology and a commitment to teaching. Requirements include completion of an approved residency program. Board certification or eligibility, and eligibility for licensure in Florida are required. Must be able to obtain medical staff credentialing with UF Health facilities as well as qualify for enrollment with third party billing entities.

This position has an open recruiting deadline and will close upon selection of an appropriate candidate. The anticipated start date for this position is dependent upon selection of a successful candidate.
