Job Description

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is seeking a Student Organizations Coordinator at the Daytona Beach campus. This position will oversee, advise, and support the activities of over 250 Registered Student Organizations (RSOs). The Student Organizations Coordinator oversees the campus processes for registration and event management for student organizations. Through a combination of training, advising, and experiential learning, the Coordinator will support students’ development of leadership skills and other competencies. This position reports to the Associate Director of Student Engagement and works regularly with department staff responsible for RSO finances.

Responsibilities include the following:

RSO Events

  • Manage the student event approval process in the university’s event software. Make sure that students receive an efficient and supportive review of their requests.
  • Meet regularly with students to provide support and advice on their events. Support good planning, provide information about relevant university policies and procedures, as well as other guidance for making their event successful.
  • Coordinate with Facilities, Sodexo, and other service providers to make sure RSO events receive the support and supplies needed.
  • Coordinate with the Campus Safety, Risk Management, and Legal departments to ensure that RSO events can be carried out in a safe and effective manner. Work to minimize the risk and liability of the University for RSO events.
  • Advocate for the needs of student organizations; facilitate good communication with staff and faculty across campus in support of successful RSO events and activities.


RSO Registration, Training, & Support

  • Manage the annual registration process for student organizations.
  • Oversee the fall and spring Activities Fair as an effective means for RSOs to recruit new members and to communicate the broad range of student organization activities.
  • Manage the assignment of space for RSO weekly meetings.
  • Support the growth of new student organizations.
  • Manage the online student org resource area within the Campus Groups platform; provide relevant and updated information to student organizations.
  • Maintain accurate records on membership in student organizations.
  • Work with the Associate Director to plan and organize an annual awards program to recognize high levels of performance by student organizations and their officers. Collaborate with faculty and staff on a nominating and judging process.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to support student skill development to help their organizations be successful.
  • Work with the Associate Director to coordinate a workshop series on a range of skills, based on student demand, such as event planning, fund-raising, conflict management, leadership development and transition strategies.


Other Duties

  • Participate in the planning, support, and oversight of major department events, such as Orientation, Homecoming, and Blue & Gold Week.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in higher ed student affairs or event management.
  • Demonstrated experience in the areas of leadership development, advising, student development, and event management.
