Job Summary
Responsible for ensuring surgical rooms and instruments are sterilized, equipped, and supplied appropriately.
Essential Functions
Assisting surgeons as needed by retrieving needed surgical instruments and equipment from surgical supply; cleaning operating rooms between surgical cases and making sure rooms are ready for next case; positioning patients for surgery and performing aseptic prep of surgery site; and maintaining cleanliness and sterility of operating rooms; decontamination and sterilization of instrumentation using an autoclave and a vaporized hydrogen peroxide sterilizer; maintenance of surgical packs and instruments.

Level II requires an Associate’s degree in a technical or scientific field related to area of assignment plus 2 years of experience in surgical services practices or care and comfort of animals.
Level III requires an Associate’s degree in a technical or scientific field related to area of assignment plus 4 years of experience in surgical services practices or care and comfort of animals.
Education Level
When a candidate has the required experience, but lacks the required education, they may normally apply additional relevant experience toward the education requirement, at a rate of two (2) years relevant experience per year of required education
