Primary Function

This is a 9-month position with work hours from 9:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. The work period is from August 16 – May 15 each year.

Employees at this level monitor the activities of occupants and guests and the physical conditions of a residence hall during night hours. They work under general supervision of higher level personnel.

Duties and Responsibilities (generally)

Sign in guests and check residents’ IDs. Observe and report any safety or medical concerns. Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

Physical Requirements:
This individual must be able to perform at significant cognitive levels. He or she must be
able to assess a situation and make appropriate decisions. The person holding this
position must have sufficient intellectual capacity to remain in control while working in
stressful conditions. He or she may need to squat, bend or reach for short periods and
lift up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment:
This individual generally works in a climate-controlled environment. However, there may
be occasions when he or she is required to work in uncomfortably warm or cool
conditions. This person will be required to engage in shift-work or work an extended
schedule. He or she may be required to sit at a desk in an office or a classroom for up to
eight (8) hours within a day with limited ability to stretch or reposition themselves. There
may be times when he or she has to work in surroundings that are loud and/or
disruptive.
