University Change Manager



Job Summary

The University Change Manager acts as an enterprise wide, intermediary between stakeholders, and Information Technology Services to embed organizational change management practices into operations that support the University’s business needs. This position collaborates with IT project teams and clients in the implementation, maintenance, and upgrading of complex information systems to apply change management strategies to maximize employees’ readiness and adoption of technical solutions. Responsible for developing, communicating, leading, providing visibility to, and documenting University change management efforts.

Job Description

Essential Duties:

•Employs a culturally appropriate, structured change management methodology to facilitate change and promote commitment to adapt to changes. Tailors change management plans to accommodate the needs of all stakeholder groups impacted.

• Partners with executive and senior leaders to create and maintain an operating plan to achieve the strategic vision and operating platform that defines the people, processes, tools, and technology.

•Conducts methodological investigations to identify key stakeholders impacted by the change. Identifies, and provides leadership for change agents, to create employee understanding and influence successful organizational change.

•Prepares for change by assessing the magnitude of change and the organization’s change readiness. Identifies potential challenges or change aversion, such as skills gaps, doubts, and uncertainties. Develops counterstrategies to mitigate or minimize potential issues and foster a positive acceptance of change.

•Partners with business and technology partners to elicit, analyze, translate, and document complex business requirements into change management strategies to maximize employee readiness and adoption of technical solutions.

•Develops new techniques and procedures to enhance University business processes. Partners with business partners to conduct user acceptance testing.

•Creates a communications strategy and plan to ensure all employees are fully aware of impending changes and for ad hoc demands resulting from process changes. Ensures use of approved communication templates, procedures and guidelines in IT communications.

•Develops documentation (processes, workflows) May document user manuals to describe application operating procedures.

• Recognizes and identifies potential areas where existing enterprise systems policies, procedures and training require change or development; particularly in regards to future business expansion, and facilitates documentation and training as necessary.

Reviews progress, evaluates results, recommends new processes, and promotes best practices. Performs quantitative assessment and solicits feedback to determine the success of change management activities, and ensure that outcomes align with strategic objectives.

•Responsible for basic website layout design of an external communications site for technology department, utilizing website layout tools (OmniUpdate ), with limited to no use of scripting languages. Updates website content on a regular basis to maximize website visits.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in business, computer information systems, or a related field.

Five years of professional full-time relevant experience.

Experience in organizational change and leading cross-functional organizational projects in change management.

Experience in website layout design and administration.

Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree from an accredited institution in computer information systems or a related field.

Three years of experience in cross-functional areas or leading cross-functional organizational change management projects.

Experience with project management, production support, and customer service.

Experience in higher education.

Workday experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of change management methodologies, tools, and project life cycles.

Strong analytical skills applied to understanding business functionality and translating them into changing behaviors.

Advanced interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.

Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate and perform work in various situations when numerous and diverse demands are involved.

Ability to interact in a professional manner with a diverse group of staff, faculty, students, and the community in a service-oriented environment.

Knowledge of the various software development lifecycles (e.g. Agile, RUP, and Waterfall).

Interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships at all levels of the University.

Ability to thrive in an organization that values the diversity of its student body and workforce and actively promotes equity and inclusion.

Salary Range: $75,000 - $78,500 annually
