Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities
The VCU School of Education’s Child Development Center is seeking to hire 2 full-time Lead Teachers to plan and implement a high-quality educational program for young children. These individuals will provide an exemplary clinical site for preservice educational experiences, faculty research, and community outreach. They will also guide and supervise volunteers and interns.
Minimum Hiring Standards
-Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field
-A minimum of 30 undergraduate hours in early childhood education.
-Two years experience working in a NAEYC -accredited program as a lead or assistant teacher.
-Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse and inclusive student environment.
-Demonstrated experience developing and implementing lesson plans that meet the needs of all children.
-Demonstrated experience assessing children through portfolios based upon identified objectives.
-Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
Preferred Hiring Standards
- Two or more years of full-time teaching experience in an NAEYC -accredited program
-First Aid / CPR certification preferred
