About the Position:
The department of Housing-Administration provides residence hall and apartment style living for approximately 2,000 students that is safe, clean and very convenient. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Associate Director, Administration and Conference Services. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the Associate Director serves on the department leadership team sharing responsibility for servicing a residential housing program for over 1,900 students with an annual operating budget of over $29 million. Provides direct management responsibility for the daily administration of housing operations. Administers the academic year housing application, licensing, and assignment process for over 1,900 students. Responsible for marketing housing, including academic year, summer and special programs. Responsible for the overall management of Conference Services for the office of Housing and Residential Engagement including marketing, sales, room reservations, supervising summer conference assistants, and coordinating daily linen and food service. Works with various university and community groups in order to develop partnerships and generate conference income in excess of $1 million annually. Serves in a 2nd-level on-call duty rotation, provides crisis intervention and emergency response, and makes referrals as appropriate. Other duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree from an accredited four-year college or university and a minimum of five years progressively responsible experience in Housing and Residential Engagement or related student affairs department/unit. Ability to develop, implement and monitor departmental budgets. Knowledge of the housing application and assignment processes. Basic understanding of residential management system software applications. Ability to independently interpret, communicate and apply policies and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Understanding of enrollment management policies and procedures and their relationship to the on-campus housing application and licensing process. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with multiple interruptions.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.


Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited college or university. Ability to effectively supervise administrative and conference services staff. Ability to cultivate and maintain a positive and productive working atmosphere in the department. Ability to develop cooperative relationship with other University departments. Knowledge of and ability to establish workplace security and safety. Ability to develop cooperative relationships with off-campus housing resources in support of the department’s off-campus housing program.

Ability to work independently, plan, organize, coordinate and perform daily and long-range activities. Exercise initiative and establish priorities. Knowledge of department and University policies and procedures in order to effectively support the operation of the department.
