Key Position Information:


Position Summary:
This is the third of six levels in the Information Technology series. Incumbents design, write and maintain programs and custom applications critical to the business needs and operation of the College. Incumbents also troubleshoot application and data errors involving PeopleSoft HRMS, Personnel, Payroll, and Financial Data; and provide training and data system support to non-technical college personnel and system users. Incumbents will analyze requests and provide report and data, as needed; prepare process flow charts, program flow charts, and write documentation in support of data systems and processes.


Requirements::
Education:

Bachelor's degree in information systems, accounting, mathematics or related field.

Experience:

Four (4) years experience working as a Programmer and/or Business Data Analyst.

*An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may be acceptable in lieu of those requirements listed above.

Knowledge:
  • Functional and technical knowledge of PeopleSoft modules (esp. HRMS, HCM, Financials, Payroll, Ben Admin, Recruiting, et al.);
  • Oracle or other relational database;
  • SQL, PL/SQL, SQL Developer, and other query tools;
  • Applicable programming languages (esp. PeopleSoft SQR, App Engine, COBOL);
  • Process flow diagrams;
  • Program flow charts and software documentation;
  • Logic development tools;
  • Systems analysis and design principles;
  • Unix or Linux Operating systems;
  • Customer service principles;
  • Accounting, Budgeting, and Financial terminology is desired;
  • Wage and Hour rules is desired;
  • Federal and State Higher-Education reporting requirements is desired;
  • Protected and confidential information classifications.
  • Systems analysis and design principles;
  • Project management principles;
  • Applicable programming languages;
  • Process improvement principles;
  • Operating systems;
  • Customer service principles;
  • Training principles;
  • Computers and related software applications.

Physical:
  • Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Researches data problems and discovers sources of errors; Provides end-user support and troubleshooting of software problems and issues.

Designs, writes, and implements interfaces, applications, reports, and data sets; identifies and interprets technical information to develop data solutions.

Confers with users to determine needs and implement best practice solutions. Analyzes systems capabilities and identifies necessary changes; participates in the development and/or review of process and/or program specifications.
Daily - 10%

4.
Coordinates projects and requests with internal and external parties as necessary.
Daily - 10%

5.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
