About the Opportunity:
The Assistant Director in the Disability Resource Center (DRC) serves in a leadership role and is responsible for maintaining a case load of student and providing supervision and over site for 2-4 DRC profession staff members. This includes providing weekly supervision meetings as well as serving as a member of the DRC's documentation review committee.

Responsibilities:
The Assistant Director will supervision 2-4 profession disability specialists providing weekly supervision and guidance as well as support for the staff. This person will help staff identify and develop individualized profession development goals and opportunities to increase their knowledge and skills.

This person will also maintain a case load of student with a variety of disabilities including student in academic jeopardy who are in need of more direct and constant contact and interventions. This includes reviewing documentation to determine reasonable accommodation, creating individualized academic plans for students and helping them to develop their self-advocacy skills.

The Assistant Director will provide consultation and training about disability issues, inclusivity, and advocate for access across all northeastern units and campuses. This will include participation in standing committees and individual department trainings.

This person will also be responsible for identifying, developing and maintaining new support programs and initiatives for student with temporary conditions or other academic needs related to their disabilities and academic needs across the global network.

Qualifications:
Master's degree in special education, counseling, higher education, or related field
  • 2-4 years of experience in respective field, preferably higher education.
  • Prior experience supervising staff.
  • Knowledge of models of disability and inclusive educational design and their application in higher
    education
  • Knowledge of the application of federal and state laws that provide for an accessible higher education
    experience
  • Experience reading and interpreting neuropsychological evaluations.
  • Strong Organizational skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Skill at developing and delivering presentations and workshops to multiple constituencies

    Additional desirable qualifications
  • Curriculum design and development
  • Experience in a disability services office in higher education
  • Fluency in American Sign Language
  • Providing accommodations and academic support internationally and online.
