Description:
The Outreach Counselor is responsible for recruiting eligible students in the Coastal Bend Area to participate in a one-year grant funded program offered by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. This position advises eligible students of the benefit of this one-year grant.
Responsibilities:
- 35% - Advise students on admission requirements and
transferability of courses prior to applying for admissions to
Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi or Del Mar College. Inform
students where this funding came from, why they were selected, and
make clear that the funds are to be utilized only during the
allowed grant period.
- 30% - Recruit eligible students according to the criteria set
forth by the Re-Skilling Grant. Responsible for the Outreach of
Coastal Bend area students on admission requirements and
transferability of courses and the criteria for the Re-Skilling
Grant prior to applying for admission to Texas A&M
University-Corpus Christi or Del Mar College.
- 20% - Communicate with potential students via phone, email,
postal mail with regard to necessary information about files and
attending Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi or Del Mar
College.
- 10% - Serve as a liaison to develop partnerships between TAMUCC
and Del Mar College.
- 5% - Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- One (1) year of related experience in admissions, student
recruiting, or college relations.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, and Outlook) and in personal computers.
- Ability to travel and work irregular hours during scheduled
times, including occasional weekends for recruitment
purposes.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication
skills to be able to communicate effectively with diverse
populations in a positive, courteous, and professional
manner.
- Strong customer service and public presentation
skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Education, Communications, or
Business/Marketing.
- Experience in planning, initiating, and organizing
events.
- Experience with Banner Student Information System and/or
Customer Relations Management Software.
- Documented excellence in a professional role, dealing
one-on-one with people on a daily basis in a dynamic
service-oriented environment.
