Associate Vice President of Development, Knight Cancer Institute
Oregon Health & Science University Foundation
Portland, Oregon
https://www.ohsu.edu/

Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) has a tradition of taking on the impossible — and delivering. Since its founding 125 years ago, OHSU has challenged the status quo in pursuit of better care and quality of life for the people of the region and beyond.

The OHSU Foundation is seeking a strategic, relationship-focused, high-capacity development leader as its Associate Vice President (AVP) of Development. Serving as a senior member of the OHSU Foundation development team, the AVP will provide strategic vision and direction in all aspects of engagement and fundraising activities for the Knight Cancer Institute and manage and motivate a talented team. The AVP will serve as a close partner to Knight Cancer Institute Director, Dr. Brian Druker, and build deep relationships with faculty and staff to increase philanthropic support for and awareness of their groundbreaking work.

OHSU, distinguished for its record of bold breakthroughs in health and science, unites some of the world's brightest minds in a singular vision: to rethink everything. Exemplifying this radical approach is Dr. Druker, who revolutionized the treatment of cancer through research that resulted in the first drug to target the molecular defect of a cancer while leaving healthy cells unharmed. Marketed under the name Gleevec®, his discovery turned a once-fatal cancer, chronic myeloid leukemia, into a manageable condition. Dr. Druker now is applying key principles of precision medicine to early detection and is developing a large-scale early detection program. Earlier detection of lethal cancers represents the greatest opportunity to increase cancer survival rates and philanthropic support is critical in ensuring Dr. Druker's continued success. This is a tremendous opportunity for a development leader to raise critical support in cancer care and work alongside a pioneer in the field of precision medicine.
